Advice from a college freshman.
1.) always do the assigned reading for your lit class. (especially if you have dawn duncan)
2.) don’t fall in love too fast.
3.) if you do happen to do #2 however, know the difference between love and settling. If you can’t imagine living without that person, and I mean honestly you can’t imagine it, you’re probably in love. Hold onto that and make time for it. Love is always worth it.
4.) find people who like harry potter just as much as you do.
5.) find people with your sense of humor.
6.) think before you speak.
7.) just because it’s a 100 level course doesn’t mean it’ll be a piece of cake.
8.) you might be better at things than you think you are. Try everything.
9.) don’t take the freshman 15 too seriously. Just go exercise or something.
10.) frolfing is fun.
11.) homework first. party second.
12.) ALWAYS respect your professors. They have a whole ton of knowledge you don’t. Respect it.
13.) be polite to the people working in the registrars office. Even if they aren’t nice to you.
14.) stay in band. band is cool.
15.) orientation week is the best time of your life. Don’t be afraid of it.
16.) try and be kind to everyone you meet. A smile could make the difference.
17.) professors are real cool. Go to their office and talk to them. They could totally change your life with mind blowing opportunities.
18.) college relationships are better than high school relationships. Okay, maybe that only applies to me, but I’d say a large percentage of people’s relationships are better in college.
19.) remember you’re paying for college. Don’t slack off.
20.) college is awesome. Don’t take your time for granted.
